Contrary to what you might think, the meta from Worlds 2016 has not changed. At all. We are still in an early tower meta. We are still in a standard lanes meta. We are still in a win-lane-win-game scenario, meaning lane dominant champions continue to be prioritised and stacking dragons still meta.
This ‘standard’ meta is going to stay as far as Riot seems concerned because the average viewer prefers it over lane swap which did not provide as much bloodshed entertainment.
So what exactly has changed?
1) We are living in a post-assassin rework era
2) There is a new parallel rise of champions to counter these power picks
3) 10-ban system is in place, making flex picks particularly valuable
4) The Korean exodus has been reversed
